How to Care for your Candle & Reed Diffusers

Candle Care Guide
  • Prior to burning your candle, trim the wick to 5mm.
  • For the first burn please light for 3-4 hours so you have a nice even pool melt – this prevents tunnelling.
  • Burn for 2-3 hours each time you light your candle. Burning for less time can cause the candle to 'tunnel', which leaves a build-up of wax around the vessel's sides. Burning for longer periods (over four hours) can cause the wick to move, or slant.
  • Keep Candles out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never touch or move a candle container when the wax has liquified.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn a candle near anything flammable.
  • Make sure you stop burning your candle when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom, keeping an eye on a burning candle when the wax is low.

Wax Melt Care Guide

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never touch or move a candle container when the wax has liquified.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn a candle near anything flammable.
  • Store your wax melts in its container, in a cool, dry place. Ideally your wax melts should be stored away from direct light, artificial and natural, to ensure color does not fade.
  • The size of your room matters in regards to the strength of the scent throw. A larger room will require more wax melts for a strong scent throw. Our wax melts produce a great scent throw within the first 10 - 20 minutes of melting. To ensure a great scent throw, allow your wax melts to completely melt. Be sure to melt wax in a well ventilated area.
  • Do not add too many wax melts to your warmers. This may cause hazardous spills. Know the limits of your warmer before use of wax melts.
  • Remove all packaging before melting your wax.
  • Only use in tea-light warmers approved for wax melts. Be sure to read and follow all instructions for your warmer before first use.
  • Do not melt wax on stove or in a non-approved appliance.
  • Be sure to clear the wax surface of any dust or debris before your next melt.
  • Always cover wax after it is completely cooled. This will prevent any dust or debris from collecting on the wax's surface and causing a fire hazard. This will also ensure a great scent throw with each melt and extend the life of your wax melts.
  • Discontinue use when less than 1/2 of wax remains or wax no longer produces a scent. Melting the wax beyond this point is a fire hazard.
  • Please be sure to properly dispose of wax. Do not pour down drains or in toilet. Pour used wax back in original container. Be careful as the wax will be hot. Allow to completely cool before disposing.
 How To Care For Wicks
  • Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings and matches, as debris in the wax can act as a secondary wick, encouraging your candle to burn faster.
  • After extinguishing the flame with a snuffer, centre and straighten the wick. Burning for too long can cause the wick to move, or slant. If you see a flaming wick come close to the vessel wall, extinguish the flame and straighten the wick to prevent the vessel from cracking.
  • Long, or crooked wicks can create high flames, smoking, or sooting. Trimming the wick to 5mm (when the wax has set) is the easiest way to prevent this.

How To Use A Diffuser

  • Gently remove the stopper from the glass vessel.
  • Carefully place the reeds inside the vessel. All of our diffusers use rattan reeds which are naturally porous, allowing for the gradual absorption of the liquid moving up the reeds.
  • To get the most out of the reeds, we advise flipping them every two weeks. This speeds up the saturation rate and gives the scent diffusion a nice boost.
  • Due to the nature of the reeds and how they become saturated with liquid, it is best to always place your diffuser on a protective plate/coaster to ensure no liquid damages surfaces. Also, take special care that the reeds do not touch painted surfaces or other materials such as wallpaper, curtains, polished or synthetic surfaces or fabrics, as this may cause staining.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Liquid is flammable – do not light the reeds.
  • Wash hand thoroughly after coming into contact with the oil.
  • Use in ventilated areas.
  • Do not place in direct sunlight or near radiators – this will diminish the oil much more quickly
